Steven Furtick Short Biography
Furtick led the worship at Shelby, North Carolina’s Christ Covenant Church in 2004. He relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina, in 2006, where he established Elevation Church alongside seven other families. The first church service was held on February 5, 2006.
He contributed as a songwriter to the creation of the musical ensemble Elevation Worship in 2007, and since then, the group has received nominations for GMA Dove and Grammy Awards, as well as a Grammy for their album Old Church Basement.
He gained notoriety in 2007 when his church distributed $40,000 to members in envelopes containing $5, $20, and even $1,000, instructing them to use the money to benefit others.
Speaking engagements for Furtick have taken place all over the world, including Bill Hybels’ 2011 Global Leadership Summit, Ed Young Jr.’s C3 Conference in 2012, Brian Houston’s Hillsong Conference in 2012, and Phil Pringle’s Presence Conference in 2012 and 2013.
