Mwai Kibaki was born on November 15, 1931, and died on April 21, 2022. He was a Kenyan politician who served as the country’s third President from December 2002 until April 2013.
He had previously served as Kenya’s fourth Vice-President from 1978 to 1988, under President Daniel arap Moi. He also served in the Jomo Kenyatta and Daniel arap Moi regimes, serving as Minister of Finance from 1969 to 1981 under Kenyatta and as Minister of Home Affairs and Health under Moi.
From 1992 to 2002, Kibaki served in Parliament as a member of the opposition. He ran unsuccessfully for the presidency in 1992 and 1997.
