Mother Teresa was born in 1910 in Albania. She joined the Sisters of Loreto in 1928 and went to India in 1929. She became a teacher and then a missionary.

She started her own order, the Missionaries of Charity, in 1950. She won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979.

When she was eighteen, she felt a calling to become a nun. She entered the Sisters of Loreto, an Irish order of nuns, and in 1928 she was sent to India to teach at a girls’ school.
