In this Post, I have shared some of the most Powerful Kgalema Motlanthe quotes.
Kgalema Motlanthe was born on July 19, 1949. He is a South African politician who served as the country’s third president from September 25, 2008 to May 9, 2009, following Thabo Mbeki‘s resignation.
He was imprisoned on Robben Island under the Terrorism Act from 1977 and 1987 for his anti-apartheid activities. After his release, he joined the National Union of Mineworkers, where he served as general secretary from 1992 until early 1998.
From late 1997 until late 2007, Motlanthe served as the ANC Secretary General following the end of apartheid. He was elected ANC deputy president, and in 2008, he become a member of Parliament and served as Thabo Mbeki’s second Minister in the Presidency.
After Mbeki resigned at the request of the ANC, Parliament elected him national president on September 25, 2008. Motlanthe was largely perceived as a compromise candidate who would run a caretaker government until the national election in 2009.
In May 2009, Jacob Zuma was elected president, and Motlanthe was named his deputy.
