Isaac Newton was born on December 25, 1642, in Woolsthorpe, Lincolnshire, England. He is considered the greatest scientist of all time. Newton’s work on gravity and motion are still taught in schools today.

In 1661, Newton entered Trinity College at the University of Cambridge. He was a poor student and, in 1665, he was forced to leave the University because of the plague. While he was away from school, Newton did some of his most important work. He developed his theory of gravity and invented the calculus.

In 1669, Newton was allowed to return to Trinity College. He completed his degree in 1672 and was appointed professor of mathematics. Newton was also elected to the Royal Society, a group of scientists who met to discuss new discoveries.
