Charles Haddon Spurgeon was an English Particular Baptist preacher who lived from 19 June 1834 to 31 January 1892.

For 38 years, Spurgeon served as the pastor of the New Park Street Chapel congregation in London (later known as the Metropolitan Tabernacle). He was involved in a number of disputes with the Baptist Union of Great Britain, and later he left the group due to his doctrinal beliefs.

Spurgeon continues to have a significant impact on Christians of all denominations, where he is referred to as the “Prince of Preachers.” He was a prominent member of the Reformed Baptist tradition who stood up for the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith and opposed the liberal and pragmatic theological currents that were prevalent in the Church at the time.
