charles dickens quotes

Charles Dickens was born on February 7, 1812, and died on June 9, 1870. He was an English writer and social critic. He created some of the world’s best-known fictional characters and is regarded by many as the greatest novelist of the Victorian era.

His works enjoyed unprecedented popularity during his lifetime and, by the 20th century, critics and scholars had recognised him as a literary genius. His novels and short stories are widely read today.

Dickens was also a master of social commentary, and his writing reflects the tensions and problems of his times. In particular, he was concerned with the plight of the poor and the working class. His novels explore the struggles of these groups to survive in a rapidly changing world.

Some of Dickens’s most famous characters are Scrooge from A Christmas Carol, Pip from Great Expectations, and David Copperfield. All of these characters are very different from one another, but they are all extremely well-developed and three-dimensional. Dickens had a gift for creating characters that are both interesting and relatable.
